Tired of your kitchen cabinets? Lots of homeowners and apartment dwellers want to give their kitchen an entirely different look, but can’t really afford to rip out existing cupboards and cabinets and replace them with all new ones. Additionally, many want to brighten up their kitchen spaces and just don’t know how to accomplish such a goal. The best answer is to simply purchase replacement pieces that include new cabinet doors and drawer fronts, and at least one cabinet door with glass inserts.
For example, a kitchen of any style could really get a serious “boost” to its sense of openness or airiness by substituting glass instead of wood paneling on the upper cabinets. Take a moment to envision the cupboard that currently holds your dishware…now remove the solid door and replace it with a cabinet door with glass instead. You can see the colorful crockery or the elegant glassware, but you have also removed a lot of the solid color (and some “heaviness”) from the area. This results in a dramatic improvement in the way the light moves through the space, and gives the kitchen a much more “open” feel.
Naturally, the choice of any cabinet door with glass panes or inserts is going to require some serious consideration. For example, you will have to determine if the interior of the cabinetry will need to be updated or changed to coordinate with the new doors. This is not at all a difficult matter, especially because the better vendors of replacement doors will usually only offer those made from all-natural veneers. Veneers are not the same as laminates, and will tend to remain firmly in place and in top condition for many more years than other alternatives. Veneers are used to face cabinetry and the interiors, and can easily allow glass doors to be used instead of solid core doors.
